Phlebotomy Program at Carolinas College of Health Sciences
Program Overview-
Carolinas College of Health Sciences offers the NAACLS-Approved Phlebotomy Program three times a year, with program starts in January, May, and August.
The January and August classes are 15 weeks long. The May class is 10 weeks long.
In this fast-paced 200-hour program you will spend the first half of the program in class and online learning the basics of collecting blood specimens by venipuncture and by skin puncture. You will have lectures on anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, safety and infection control and the procedures. The last half of the class, you will move on to the clinical rotations to complete the program.
At the end of the program, you will take a comprehensive examination and will be eligible to sit for a national certifying examination. The Phlebotomy program is approved by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS).
Program Fast Facts:
January and August classes: The first half of the program (7 weeks) are in class and student lab. Class meets Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 8AM - 12 Noon.
Please note May classes meet for 10 weeks. The first half of the program (5 weeks) are in class and student lab. Class meets Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8AM - 12 Noon.
Clinicals: 2nd half of program in clinical rotations in hospitals and doctors’ offices to gain experience. Meets average of 24-28 hours per week in a different clinical site each week. Days and times will vary.
2019 Tuition: $ 625.00 (required books separate; estimate cost of $130.00)
