Coming January 21, Art • Poetry • Music: Celebrating Charlotte’s African-American community and the Life and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is a powerful, collaborative concert by Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Quentin Talley's OnQ Productions, David Tang’s Firebird Arts Alliance, and Opera Carolina. APM fuses music, spoken word and visual art with readings from iconic speeches by Dr. King.
The performance will feature 150 choral singers from the Firebird Arts Alliance’s choir - VOX, Charlotte Contemporary Ensemble, Carolina Chorale, members of the St. John’s Baptist, Caldwell Presbyterian Church choirs, and Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Other special guests include slam poet Bluz as well as the Ocie Davis Jazz Quartet. Join us January 21 as we lift every voice and sing to celebrate Charlotte’s African-American community through the legacy of Dr. King.
